Instead of a relaxing spa weekend, a couple rounds of golf or any other luxury item we could think of, the employees of Rapport Leadership International decided to give our owners, Michael and Christine Saletta and Joe and Jenifer Tate a gift that would be more fitting to their expansive hearts. Through a charitable gift program run by Heifer International, Rapport employees donated $4,900.00 to impoverished communities around the world in the names of our owners.
Beginning with the simple idea that people in poverty did not need a cup, they need a cow; Heifer International has given millions of families in over 128 countries the gift of self-reliance and hope through the gift of livestock and training in the care and feeding of animals. Their mission of working with communities to end hunger, poverty, and to care for the earth is accomplished through their philosophy of “Passing on the Gift.” When they enter a community, the recipients of one of their animals must promise to give the offspring to a neighbor or neighboring community and teach them how to use it. This approach creates a ripple effect that improves the lives of uncountable global citizens.
When Rapport employees learned about Heifer, we knew that our vision of a better world through leadership walked in lockstep with the goals of this incredible organization. Our donation alone contributed over 100 animals that will spread to families in need, including:
- 16 flocks of ducks
- 1 heifer
- 10 geese
- 5 goats
- 10 groups of honeybees
- 15 flocks of chicks
- 1 lamb
- 5 llamas
- 39 rabbits
- 4 sheep
- 1 tree seedling
To learn more about this organization, CEO and Co-Owner Michael Saletta and our COO Bryan Lindsey visited Heifer International Headquarters in Little Rock, Arkansas. They toured the Global Village interactive learning center; a place where kids can learn and experience what families living in poverty experience, and Heifer Headquarters while brainstorming about how we can do more to help this organization meet their goals. We look forward to continuing our work with Heifer, and in turn, spreading the message leadership and success - along with some very important animals.
